[edit] Description
Teleport is the skill that's single-handedly responsible for the fluid trade system in Diablo II. When cast, the caster is sent directly to the point clicked on. With a higher Faster Cast Rate, this skill can be cast in much more rapid succession, and things like zipping through dungeons become a breeze. It's mana requirement is initially very high, but as you invest more points in it, the mana requirement drops dramatically.
Most players only invest one point in this skill. As you obtain more items and gear, you will find more things that add to your Sorceress total skills. That means you can invest one point in Teleport, but still have it at level ten or twenty, assuming you have enough +x to skills items or +x to Sorceress skills items.
[edit] In Diablo III
As noted in the Lore section, this skill is not technically a lightning-based skill. It's an arcane skill. Arcane skills are something we will see more of in Diablo III, especially as per the Wizard's skills.
A Sorceress trained in this arcane skill has the ability to traverse the Ether, instantly rematerializing in another location. Without the aid of waypoints or town portals, she may teleport anywhere within her immediate vicinity. Though this spell is not suitable for larger distances, a Sorceress can make good use of it to evade or reach otherwise inaccessible areas.[1]
