Unique Monsters (Diablo II)

Unique Monsters are stronger versions of regular monsters. They spawn with additional bonus abilities as well as a group of minion monsters. Minion monsters have the same stats as regular monsters, unless the Unique monster has certain stats it bestows upon its minions (listed below).
Unique Monsters are create randomly with each new game, and appear in random places as well. Their names appear in gold text, and almost all monsters can spawn as a unique.
Some Unique Monsters always appear in the same place each game, and have the same attributes: they are referred to as Super Unique Monsters. Bosses fall under this category.

[edit] Unique Monster Bonuses
Unique Monsters spawn with some additional abilities. These are picked randomly each time a Unique Monster spawns. There are a total of 13 different bonuses a Unique can get.

If a monster spawns as Aura Enchanted it is granted one of the following auras.
- Might (Monster Level/4)
- Blessed Aim (Monster Level)
- Holy Fire (Monster Level/2)
- Holy Freeze (Monster Level/2)
- Holy Shock (Monster Level/2)
- Conviction (Monster Level/4)
- Fanaticism (Monster Level/4)

Each time the monster attacks, it has a 50% chance of cast Amplify Damage, with a skill level calculated by Monster Level/4.

- Releases Charged Bolts upon being hit. The level of the Charged Bolt is equal to the Monster level.

- Burns the mana of the player equal to x4 times the damage inflicted. 10 damage burns 40 mana.

Spawns on monster that can shoot. Splits the projectiles like the Amazon skill Multiple Shot, creating two or more projectiles.

- Deals 66%-100% extra elemental damage with each strike. The damage is randomly picked with each attack from the five possible types: Fire, Cold, Ligtning, Poison and Magic damage.

In Nightmare and Hell, minions gain the same attack bonus as the unique, but with less damage

The unique can teleport. Teleports if life drops below 33% or players run up to it. If life is below 33%, the act of teleporting also heals the Unique.
